Here's What You Will Get On Your SGPT Trial:

Goal Setting Session

We want to hear your personal story, find out what you want to achieve and why, and figure out what's hampering your progress. Everyone's story is different and there are no set plans for everyone, so it's important to find out what makes you tick.

Personalised Nutrition Plan

You'll receive a meal plan, healthy recipe cook book and nutritional guide based on your personal requirements, plus your coach will monitor your food and drink intake throughout your trial.

Support & Accountability

You will have constant support from your coach, Mat, who is always happy to answer any questions and address any specific issues or obstacles you might be facing.

Advanced Assessment

Including body metrics, postural analysis, functional movement screening to identify any instabilities and performance testing on your strength, speed, power and agility to help you set benchmarks for improvement.

Training Sessions

You will have three small group personal training sessions per week, shared by up to five other athletes, all working towards similar goals. You will have an allowance of 12 sessions on your month trial.

Free Gym Membership

Primal SGPT includes free standard gym membership so you will also have full access to all our standard classes and clubs plus full use of the facilities outside of your SGPT sessions.

Personalised Programme

Following your assessment, we will create a programme tailored to you. This can include foam rolling, mobilsations, activations, potentiation, cardio, strength training, corrective exercise - whatever you need to progress towards your goals.

Final Assessment

At the end of your trial, you'll have a catch up with your coach to check on  your progress. We'll re-test your metrics and performance, then you can decide if you want to move you onto the next stage of your programme.

Does it matter what sport I am doing?

No, not at all. The fundamentals of sports performance are largely the same across the board; improving strength, power, speed, agility, coordination and mindfulness, with specific tweaks depending on the sport. Our expert athletics coach will utilise the latest science and methodology to ensure you improve in whichever sport you play.

I'm struggling with injuries, can I still do this trial?

At Primal, we specialise in functional assessment and injury rehabilitation. If, after your assessment, we don't feel you're ready to start this trial, we can design a rehab programme for you to get you back up and running. If your injury is more of a niggle, we can address this in your programme to ensure your performance improves whilst repairing the problem. 

When are the sessions? And how do I book them?

We currently have a choice of seven Performance SGPT sessions on our timetable each week, including mornings, lunchtimes and evenings, so you should be able to find three you can attend, but we are prepared to be flexible if our clients need more sessions at different times. You simply book into the sessions using the Primal Gym app or online timetable.

How does this differ from other gym programmes?

Put simply: we know our stuff! As well as having a background in sports himself, our athletics coach Mat is constantly studying all the latest research around sports training and applying it to his clients, enabling you to stay one step ahead of your competitors. Forget boring, monotonous drills - your training will always be fun, engaging and keep you on your toes. 

What happens in the training sessions?

Each session varies depending on potential games you have that weekend, in a month's time or a year's time, but generally a week will consist of a balance of sprinting, change of direction/agility, plyometrics, strength training, conditioning, and recovery strategies, such as mobility work and breathing techniques.

How will I know if I'm improving?

If you stick to your programme, the improvements will be obvious when you play your sport - you'll be scoring more points, losing defenders more easily etc. But we'll also do plenty of testing in the gym using equipment such as timing gates and jumping mats, and recording lots of other stats and measurements to track progress.
