Primal Health Ltd. is committed to taking every step necessary to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus. The safety of our members, staff and anyone with whom they may come into contact is our top priority. This page contains everything you need to know about the way in which we're managing our business in light of the pandemic.

In accordance with the latest Government advice, Primal Gym is reopening its doors to the public on Saturday July 25th.

Outlined below are the changes we're implementing in order to meet the Government safety guidelines:



The Government guidelines for capacity are primarily determined by square footage and ventilation. For Primal Gym, that means we’re allowed 100 people in the gym at any one time but due to the nature of our functional training methods and equipment layout, we want to start with fewer people, allowing more room for our members to train the way they want. So capacity, to begin with, will allow for around 40-50 people in the gym at any one time - 10 in each class, 25 in bookable solo training slots, 6 in each SGPT session, any one-to-one PT sessions and our staff. These sessions will all be staggered to help avoid bottlenecks in the gym. You can find the full timetable here.

Opening Hours

For the first two weeks at least, opening hours will be reduced and split into sections that reflect our busiest times:

Monday - Friday: 6.30am - 9am | 12pm - 2pm | 5pm - 8.30pm
Saturdays: 9am - 1pm

Outside of these hours, the gym will be closed. We will review this after a couple of weeks and increase the opening hours as soon as we are able.

Primal Classes

We are going to start with just the one class type - Strength & Conditioning. These classes will involve a mix of mobility, core, resistance work and cardio - the perfect blend to get our members back into a consistent training routine at the right pace. We will be adding more variety to the class and club timetable as we move forwards, but we want to start simple so we can keep track of everything during the first few weeks of the relaunch. On weekdays there will be one class in the morning, one at lunchtime and two in the evening with two more on Saturdays. To enable us to maintain social distancing during classes, the capacity has been reduced to 10 people per class.

Solo Training

For those members who prefer to do their own thing, there are several 60 minute slots available on the timetable for booking - two each morning, two at lunch, three in the evening and three on Saturdays. We ask that members do not attend the gym for a solo training session unless they've booked into one of these slots. There is a maximum of 25 places in each slot and we ask that, for now, members don’t book more than one slot per day so we can make sure everyone has a fair opportunity to use the gym.


Waiting Lists & Cancellations

We’ve put a waiting list of 10 on each class and solo training session to enable us to track demand as people feel more confident returning to the gym. This means it’s really important now, more than ever, for members to cancel any reservations they're unable to fulfil, so someone else on the waiting list to take your place.

Online Classes

For those members who don’t feel ready to return to the gym just yet or perhaps want to do a mixture of in-person and online training, we will also be continuing with our timetable of online classes. There are two on each day - one at lunchtime and one in the evening - which are bookable via the app or class timetable. Health & Safety

We’re going to great lengths to ensure the gym is as safe as it possibly can be for our members to use and our team to work in. This involves us following certain protocols, including:

  • Thorough cleaning and sanitisation of the entire gym and all equipment before reopening

  • Water system assessment

  • Sanitisation of any equipment used before and after each session

  • Staff washing hands regularly

  • Protective screens at reception

  • Provision of sanitising materials all around the gym

  • Health and safety guidelines posted in and around the gym


There are a number of steps we need our members and visitors to take as well, each time you come to use the gym:

  • If you feel ill or have any symptoms of Coronavirus, please do not come to the gym for 14 days. Contact us on

  • Before entering the gym, make sure you’ve completed a Covid Questionnaire at reception and please allow us to conduct a hands-free temperature check. If you are advised not to train, please cooperate.

  • Once you’ve entered the gym, please wash your hands with the sanitiser provided.

  • At the beginning of your session, gather all the equipment you need and, where possible, remain in one area of the gym while training. If you do need to use a wider area, please maintain a 2 metre distance from others.

  • At the end of your session, wipe down any equipment you’ve used with the sanitiser provided and return it to its place.

  • Maintain social distancing at all times - keep at least 6 feet away from others and avoid physical contact.

  • Wherever possible, please get changed at home. The changing rooms will be open and the lockers and toilets available for use but the showers and sauna will be out of use for now.
